“Pleasure of the Twelve Beauties” is a series of twelve collages. that addresses the issue of materialism, westernization and standards of beauty.
"The Pleasure of Twelve Beauty" is base on a set of silk paintings depicting Emperor Yongzheng’s concubines as women of elegance and natural grace. I re-interpret the theme as if they are young Chinese women nowadays. I make them into Internet celebrities that underwent plastic surgery, following western trends and enjoying their flamboyant lifestyle. I want to address the issue of materialism, westernization, and standards of beauty in a playful, joking way.
